I get a lot of requests from friends and family for various things. Sometimes I get a link to a Facebook post (usually one that I’ve already seen several times) and sometimes I get a generic request. I like those. The ones that give me some creative freedom to come up with something new.
Randi’s request was for a big fluffy scarf. It took me a few tries to find a combo of stitch and hook that I thought worked well. I have started using the Moss Stitch quite a bit lately because it is so simple and even though it uses a Single Crochet it works pretty quickly. I love the texture that it gives. This scarf uses a double strand of yarn and a large hook giving it even more texture and “fluffiness”.

The Randi Scarf
Supplies Needed:
2 skeins I Love This Yarn, Or other worsted weight (4) yarn
N (10mm) Hook
Tapestry Needle
Stitches:
1) FSC 22, Ch 2 (1 is turning chain, 1 is the first chain space of the next row) turn (22)
2) Skip 1st FSC, SC in next, *Ch 1, skip 1, SC* Repeat from * to * across. Ch 2, turn (22- 11 Ch-Spaces, 11 SC)
3) SC in first Ch-Space, *Ch 1, skip next SC, SC in next Ch-Space* Repeat from * to * across, ch 2 turn. (22- 11 Ch-Spaces, 11 SC)
4) Repeat Row 3 until scarf reaches desired length (I made mine about 72”) (22- 11 ch-spaces, 11 SC)
Bring ends together and slip stitch to join (careful not to twist the loop). You can also cut the yarn and sew the ends together. Sewing will make the seam less noticeable but also means you have extra ends to weave in.
If you cut the yarn, you’ll now reattach to the side and SC evenly around. Do 2 rounds of SC on both sides of the scarf.
If you slip stitched the scarf closed, you’ll turn the scarf inside out so that the ss seam is on the inside, Ch 1, SC evenly around. Do 2 rounds of SC. Reattach yarn to other side of scarf, Do 2 Rounds of SC.
Weave in all the ends.
