I couldn’t resist making up an adorable mini Dalek while on my mini ami roll! Even though Daleks are usually not cute and adorable, this one definitely is! You can make him any color combo you’d like. This guy would also be awesome as a tree ornament (or to hang from the rear view mirror!) I’m not a very festive person but I may just have to make a few extra of these for our tree this year! 🙂

Supplies Needed:

G Hook

Worsted yarn in Grey/silver, black (Or any 2 colors you’d like your Dalek to have)

Yarn needle

Stitches Used: (in US terms)

MR- Magic Ring

SC- Single Crochet

2SC- Single Crochet Increase-Do 2 SC in same stitch to increase

Bobble- *Yarn Over, Insert hook into stitch, Yarn Over, Pull through, Yarn Over, Pull through 2 loops* Repeat from * to * 3 more times, until you have 5 loops on your hook, Yarn Over, Pull through 5 remaining loops.

TBobble- Triple Bobble (I’m sure I didn’t make up this stitch but I hadn’t come across it before and calling it a ‘TBobble’ makes me chuckle.) *Yarn Over twice (like you are about to do a triple crochet), Insert hook into stitch, Yarn Over, Pull Through, Yarn Over, Pull through 2 loops, Yarn over, pull through 2 loops* Repeat from * to * 3 more times until you have 5 loops on your hook, Yarn Over, Pull through 5 remaining loops.

BPSC- Back Post Single Crochet, worked as a single crochet except that you will go around the post of the stitch from back to front

DEC- SC dec

This Mini Dalek is best worked in joined rounds. Each round will begin with 1 chain and end with a SS to the first SC of the round.

Using Color A

1) MR 8 SC (8)

2) 2SC in each around (16)

3) *SC, 2SC* Repeat from * to * around (24)

4) BPSC around (If you aren’t a fan of the back post stitches, a BLO would work as well) (24)

5) SC 2, Bobble (in Color B-all Bobbles will be in Color B) , *SC 3, Bobble* Repeat from * to * 5 times, SC in last stitch. (6 Bobbles, 18 SC)

6-7) SC around (24)

8) Repeat Round 5 (6 Bobbles, 18 SC)

9) *SC 4, DEC* Repeat from * to * around (20)

10) SC around (20)

11) *SC (color A), SC 4 (color B)* Repeat from * to * around (20- 4 in color A, 16 in color B)

12) SC around (color A) (20)

13) SC 5, TBobble (color B), SC 14 (1 TBobble, 19 SC)

14) SC around (20)

15) *SC 2, DEC* around (15)

Stuff

16) *SC, DEC* around (10)

17) DEC around (5)

Leave tail to sew shut.
